The Fletcher Lab attends Chile-California Council Exchange on droughts

 

Dr. Sarah Fletcher and PhD candidate Keani Willebrand of the Fletcher Lab recently participated in the Chile-California Council’s academic exchange focused on the topic of droughts. The exchange took place December 5-7 in Santiago, Chile and included academic participants from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Stanford University, the University of California Davis, and the Public Policy Institute of California.

The exchange aimed to bring academic scholars from California and Chile together to share scientific knowledge in support of the design of public policies and decision-making towards the proactive management and monitoring of droughts in Chile. Activities included an academic workshop, a round table meeting with Minister Maria Eloisa Rojas of the Chilean Ministry of the Environment, a public seminar on the topic of droughts, a meeting with the Maipo River Surveillance Board, and a visit to the San Carlos intake.
