The Fletcher Lab Awarded Stanford Woods Institute EVP Seed Grant

The Fletcher Lab was recently awarded a 2023 seed grant from the Stanford Woods Institute’s Environmental Venture Project (EVP) program related to ongoing research that aims to advance drought management and climate change adaptation in central Chile. The EVP program provides seed grants for interdisciplinary research projects that seek to identify solutions to pressing problems of the environment and sustainability.

The proposed work seeks to help water resources planners identify when to update drought monitoring strategies, enact short-term drought responses, and invest in long-term water supply infrastructure to support long-term climate change adaptation and enhance proactive drought management approaches. This work will partner with local researchers, water managers, and policymakers in Santiago, Chile, which is currently facing its 14th consecutive year of drought.
