The Fletcher Lab receives Stanford Office of Community Engagement 2023 Seed Grant

The Fletcher Lab was recently awarded a seed grant opportunity through Stanford’s Office of Community Engagement. The Office of Community Engagement works to support Stanford faculty and staff who are working with community collaborators in the Bay Area and beyond on projects that seek to accelerate solutions to affordability, health, and sustainability.

The awarded project seeks to address water billing and affordability in East Palo Alto, which has a long history of water supply issues including residential mistrust and concern about municipal water quality and affordability. The project will create educational materials on water billing structures and tackle water utility billing questions for residents. The project also will quantitatively analyze the state of water affordability across the three East Palo Alto water service providers, building from the Fletcher Lab’s ongoing research program on water affordability.
